Job Role:

The Instrumentation Commissioning Technician is responsible for executing the Instrumentation pre- commissioning, commissioning and start-up activities.

 

Qualifications:

  • Certified Instrumentation Technician (Red Seal Interprovincial Instrumentation Tech or
  • Instrumentation Engineering Technologist;
  • Minimum 3-5 years related experience;
  • Experience in the Oil & Gas and/or Mining industries preferred, and
  • Commissioning experience considered an asset.
  •  

Key Accountabilities:

  • Participate in HAZOP, JHA, FLRA;
  • Follow the system pre-commissioning and/or commissioning procedures as approved by the instrument coordinator;
  • Work with 475 field communicators, fluke calibration equipment and standard communication protocols (HART, Field Bus etc.);
  • Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), and
  • Working effectively in a team environment to assure that the commissioning work integrates well in the overall project.

 

Additional Responsibilities:

 

  • Participate in training, competency program and performance management  tasks, and
  • Perform other duties as required.

 

Performance Standards:

  • Excellent analytical and communication skills;
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task;
  • Ability to work in a team environment and quickly understand the roles of the interfacing teams;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Computer skills are a requirement for this position, and
  • Sets an example and promotes a safe and healthy work environment.
  •   

Required Training:

  • Proactive Driving (as required);
  • WHMIS or HAZCOM (Determined by region of work);
  • Health, Safety and Environment System Training (annually);
  • Quality Management System Training (annually);
  • First Aid (as required);
  • Other site specific safety certifications;
